What & Who

The Twin Cities Design Collective is a site dedicated to exposing & sharing the many hidden creative treasures right here in Minnesota & its surrounding communities.

Our goal is to support local designers & related businesses in an effort to promote their work to the mainstream population and to each other for potential collaboration. If you learn something new, meet someone new or gain a client from our work, WE HAVE SUCCEEDED!

Michelle Drenckhahn

Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Michelle Drenckhahn is a Minnesota native and Interior Designer who currently resides in the Twin Cities.

While living in Los Angeles, Michelle grew more & more appreciative of the Twin Cities area & looked forward to her move back in 2008. Fantastic family, friends & community were too much to stay away for long. (We won’t talk about winter though….)

After returning, she continued to grow her business by developing relationships with other professionals and expanding her business model.  Personal changes including a growing family & the slowing economy gave her plenty of time to reflect & focus on her passions.

It was this reflection and a few great conversations which developed the Twin Cities Design Collective!

Public Spaces Editor & Curator of Fun Things

Corporate Interior Designer Alyssa Peterson has spent the majority of her career in design traveling around the U.S. working on casino projects. While the casino projects were exciting and challenging, the weekly travel did get tiring after a bit. After a number of life changes with the biggest marrying an architect who works on airports and travels as much as she did, she left the large firm she was working for and struck out on her own creating the small firm evoke 4 years ago. She has since been working on small, meaningful office projects in the Twin Cities and enjoying life.

She has worked at many retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Target headquarters, JC Penney and Ulta.

She has also trained under Celebrity Stylist Luke Storey as well as worked as a set decorator & wardrobe stylist.

Araya Jensen, CKD, CBD has been guiding clients through the remodeling/home building process in local design showrooms for over 12 years.  Specializing in Kitchen and Bathroom design for 10 years she has married her passion for design with her love of all things hand-made.

You can find her writing about local and national artists, design and products here and on her blog, Wind and Willow Home where she channels her love of all things nature inspired from her childhood, growing up along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

She also is on a mission to follow her dreams of owning a brick and mortar showroom in the Twin Cities.
